We support parents in the Chichester District who are finding life challenging. Our support is tailored to your family, you choose how you would like to receive help; maybe you’d like to join one of our weekly ‘Stay and Play’ groups to meet other parents or perhaps you’d like a volunteer to visit you weekly or maybe you’d like BOTH!
Maybe you need someone to talk to who won’t judge you; a shoulder to cry on or perhaps someone to play with or read to your children; maybe a bit of support to make and keep medical appointments or to find out what else is available locally. You choose.
Do you ever feel like this?
- Isolated in your community, with no family nearby and struggling to make friends.
- Suffering with post-natal illness but finding it hard to talk to anyone about it.
- Having a hard time coping with your child’s illness or behaviour
- Overwhelmed by the death of a loved one.
- Struggling with the emotional and physical demands of having twins, triplets or more.
- Struggling to cope with a disability, home management or relationship problems.
- Tired, unhappy, exhausted.
Parenting can be challenging
If you need support we can match you with a volunteer who visit you regularly to be a listening ear, offer guidance and comfort to your children and yourself. If you would like this type of support, complete the self-referral form and one of the coordinators will get in touch with you.
Many parents need help and guidance or support during those early years when children are young.
There is no rulebook for raising a family and sometimes it can seem overwhelming, particularly if your family if going through difficult times.
But if you get the support you need when you need it, then day-to-day family life for you and your children can be so much brighter

It’s free and confidential
You don’t have to pay for Home-Start help and it’s confidential. Home-Start volunteers will respect your privacy and never forget that you have invited them into your home.
How can I get support from Home-Start?
You can referral yourself to Home-Start, using our online self-referral form. After you’ve completed it we will be in touch within a week.
